Ida Alanen (b. 1994) is a young generation jazz pianist and composer from Helsinki, Finland. Currently she studies in the Master program of the Conservatory of Amsterdam with jazz piano as her major.
For the past few years Ida has been focusing on her career as a composing musician, as well as working as a freelancer as a part of various groups. Ida has a Bachelor degree in music from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences where she studied piano with Mikael Jakobsson and Laszlo Süle. She has also graduated from Pop&Jazz Conservatory in Helsinki, where she studied with Rob Dominis. She has also studied piano and composition privately with internationally recognized musicians such as Gerald Clayton, Abe Rábade, Omer Klein, Sid Hille and Riitta Paakki.
At the moment she composes mainly for her trio, Ida Alanen Trio, and also performs with the group both in Finland and internationally. Trio’s debute album is to be recorded in autumn 2022. Ida's composing work has been supported with grants from the Finnish Music Creators' Fund and Arts Promotion Centre Finland.
